Cargo Note: Because we are primarily an export region, the majority of merchant ships traveling on the Columbia are here to load cargo and deliver it elsewhere. Ships bringing cargo in to deliver are marked “(D).” Ships that come into the river to deliver cargo sometimes leave with ballast water on board, to replace the weight and stability that cargo afforded them on the inbound leg of their journey.

MARINE WEATHER

We’ve got a tight pressure gradient happening across our region and that means areas with different air pressure are creating winds. High pressure remains anchored offshore through today. Meanwhile, thermal low pressure is hugging the south Oregon coast into northwest California. This will bring us gusty northerly winds on the coastal waters. Gale force winds are expected through today.
