The dramatic rescue of Susie Goodall

In the Golden Globe, sailors race solo for months with minimal technology to back them up. Her sailboat was dismasted, after it pitchpoled in a terrible storm in the Southern Ocean. She was injured and waited days until a cargo ship came to her aid.

We’ll take a look at where wave heights might be in a few days, and revisit one of my favorite nautical references: the Beaufort Wind Scale. Devised in 1805 by a British Naval Officer, it’s still relevant today.
